The device used for joining the cable wires or any conducting materials is called as lugs. The Cable Lugs are the devices that are used to join the conducting materials and the conducting tube which is so called as a cable. The conducting materials called wires are inserted into the tube or barrel of the device and then these lugs are used to connect or crimp or welder the joins that is seen on that barrel. The end of the barrel is again crimpled or screwed or bolted so that they end of the wire can be connected to any electrical source or destination. These lugs are found on the generators, transformers, electrical appliances or boxes or even in automobiles. The main advantage is that these lugs are efficient in the scenario of less thermal heat generation and also when the voltage drop is very low. In such cases, the lugs will avoid the accidents like conductor burn outs.
The crimping Lugs are used to crimp and set the wire with the cable or tube. Depending on the appliances, the shape of the crimp may vary. These crimps are set to the horizontal cross section of the wire so that the electrical conductivity is smooth without any loss. The crimp terminals are again a device used to crimp the terminal or the end of the conducting material. It gives a finishing to the conductor so that they can be made available for usage in appliances. There are different types of crimping tools based on the dimensions and shape. Anyone can be chosen based on our requirements.
The Copper Lugs are available on different standards. They are Indian standards, Din standards, BS standards and AS/NZ standards. This lug is made on the copper material and they are used to create an enclosure to the conducting material. Again they different standard lugs are used for different types of corrals based on the dimensions, usage and the appliances. The terminal lugs can be used in switch boards and other terminals where the terminals have to be bolted. Again, the dimensions of these terminals vary based on the appliance.
